History of Mining and Environmental Engineering Faculty
The Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering was officially established in 2013 in accordance with the policies and development programs of Balkh University for the development of the higher education sector and the training of academic and national cadres. This faculty started operating on March 8, 2014. In addition, Associate Professor Ghulam Farooq Khpalwak was the founder and the first dean of faculty and the initial lecturers were Associate Prof. Ghulam Farooq Khpalwak, Associate Prof. Ghulam Abu Baker, Associate Prof. Abdul Ghani Adel, Assistant Prof. Ghulam Sediq Niazi, Associate Prof. Sabrullah, Assistant Prof. Abdulkhalil Khalil, Assistant Prof. Ahmad Fareen Sabeti, and Assistant Prof. Sher Mohamad.
Since the establishment, the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering has had the following three departments:
1. Mining Engineering
2. Petroleum Engineering
3. Water and Environmental Engineering
Currently, this faculty has 1020 students, consisting of 75% male and 25% female. This faculty uses the international and standard credit system and based on the curriculum provided by the Ministry of Higher Education teaches 136 up to 146 credits for the undergraduate programs.
Faculty affairs are carried out by the dean of faculty, the deputy dean of faculty, head of departments, and the teaching director. The courses of this faculty are being taught by 17 lecturers who hold doctorial, masters, and bachelor degrees.
