History of Education Faculty

The Faculty of Education is one of the most populous and oldest faculties of Balkh University. Its historical development is as follows

  • In 1962, it was established under the name of the Basic Teachers' College, from which students graduate after one year of education.
  • In 1969, as it was promoted to the Higher Teachers' College, the institution trained students into the fourteenth grade. For a while time, the institution trained students up to fourteenth grade under the name of the Higher Institute of Teachers’ Education.
  • In 1986, the Higher Teachers' Training College was upgraded to the Roudaki Institute of Pedagogy, which had three faculties: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Languages and In-Service Department, and trained undergraduate students.
  • In 2003, the institution joined Balkh University and became known as Education Faculty of Balkh University, which is still serving the youth with the same name.

This faculty is administered and led by the dean of faculty and deputy head of teaching. Teaching affairs are carried out by the head of the department, experienced and trained professors, and its administrative affairs are carried out by the executive director, the students’ director and the administrative staff.

The total number of professors at the Faculty of Education of Balkh University in 2020 is 62, of which (28) are female and (34) are male.

The faculty members of the Faculty of Education has the following academic backgrounds:

  • 26 professors have a master's degree.
  • 6 professors are studying abroad for Ph.D.
  • 2 professors are pursuing their Ph.D. in Afghanistan
  • 11 professors are pursuing their master's degree in abroad.
  • 22 professors are pursuing their postgraduate degree inside the country 
  • 36 professors have a bachelor’s degree
